Dr. Nishi Khullar, B.Sc., O.D.

Markham and Oshawa location

Dr. Nishi Khullar graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree. During this time, she worked as a researcher at The Toronto Western Hospital completing studies on Cataract Wait Times for patients in Ontario. She then went on to complete her doctorate degree from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry, graduating on the Dean’s Honours List. During her training, Dr. Khullar interned with renowned retinal specialist Dr. Jordan Cheskes in Scarborough. Focuses of the internship included diagnosis and treatment of retinal and posterior segment diseases. Dr. Khullar joined private practice in Brampton and Mississauga and focuses on Ocular Diseases, Geriatrics and Pediatric Optometry. She started practicing in Oshawa and Markham and became an active member of the Durham and York Region communities by being involved in local charity groups and having active seminars for seniors in both regions.

Always passionate about giving back and volunteer work, Dr. Khullar has participated in eye care missions worldwide, including Guatemala and India. She continues to strive for the betterment of eye health in the local communities of Oshawa and Markham as well.

Dr. Khullar is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists.

In her personal time, Dr. Khullar enjoys travelling with her husband and spending time outdoors as much as possible during the summer months.

Dr. Neeru Khullar, B.Sc., O.D.

Dr. Neeru Khullar received her Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Waterloo and graduated from the School of Optometry on the Dean’s Honour List. Being a believer in clinical eye care research, she completed her residency training at the Parklands Hospital in Dallas, Texas. There she saw and participated in the treatment of ocular diseases such as diabetes, glaucoma, severe dry eyes syndrome, and ocular trauma. During her residency, Dr. Khullar trained directly with some of the most renowned Ophthalmology residents. In Canada, she has gained tremendous experience working at two prestigious clinics, immersed heavily in disease diagnosis.

Dr. Khullar has participated on mission trips to Mexico and India, providing much needed optometric services to some of the most underprivileged areas in the world. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists.

Dr. Khullar started private practice in Markham and Oshawa and focuses on ocular health, pediatrics, and contact lens therapy. Dr. Khullar is especially interested in dry eye disease and treatment.

She is actively involved and enjoys attending seniors groups in the area to help them understand the importance of eye health.

In her personal time, Dr. Khullar enjoys being involved in sports and travelling with her husband.

Dr. Renuka Sivanesan, B.Sc., O.D.

Oshawa, Markham & Richmond Hill location

Dr. Renuka Sivanesan graduated from the University of Waterloo where she earned her Honors Bachelor of Science degree and minored in Biology. She then went on to complete her Doctorate in Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry.

While in the Optometry program, Dr. Sivanesan completed her residency training at the well-known Veterans Hospital in Newington, CT, where she co-managed and treated glaucoma, cataracts, Lasik patients, and several ocular diseases. She then continued her training at the prestigious Chicago Light House for the Blind and Visually Impaired, where she managed and treated patients with low vision needs.

During her residency, Dr. Sivanesan was also trained at the Vision Institute of Canada where she developed a special interest in pediatric optometry. After obtaining her Doctorate, Dr. Sivanesan worked in primary care optometry for three years in Chicago, where she simultaneously had the opportunity to teach a college course in Ophthalmic Optics. Dr. Sivanesan takes pride in providing the best standard of care to her patients and is very passionate about her profession.

Dr. Sivanesan lives, works and actively participates in the York and Durham communities. In her personal time she enjoys classical dance and reading.

Dr. Zain Hassan

Oshawa & Richmond Hill location

With a life-long passion for eyes, Dr. Zain Hassan started his education with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from York University, which he graduated with in 2011 First Class with distinction. He went on to earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2015, graduating on the Dean’s Honor List.

Dr. Hassan has trained at many different externship locations, including doing his ocular disease and therapeutics rotation at the John Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, where he worked alongside several ophthalmologists and learned to diagnose, manage, and treat many different ocular conditions including dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and much more. He also trained at a refractive surgery clinic in the GTA performing pre and post LASIK co-management. He has also worked with many Optometrists in Oshawa, Markham, and Downtown Toronto to develop his skills in contact lenses, binocular vision, and pediatrics.

Dr. Hassan strives to keep up on the latest research and up to date treatment models to serve his patients the best way he can. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer and basketball, and enjoys spending time with family and friends. He has been working at the Oshawa Eye Health clinic since November, 2015, where he is currently welcoming new and returning patients of all ages. Dr. Hassan believes that vision is not just 20/20 and is dedicated to exceeding all your eye care needs!”

Dr. Dharani Devathasan

Markham and Richmond Hill location

Dr. Devathasan received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the prestigious program at the University of Waterloo. Prior to that she also completed her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the same alma mater. She further trained at the Eye Foundation of Utah, where she focused on retinal diseases and glaucoma. In 2015, she served on the Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity, VOSH, mission team, where she had the opportunity to provide thousands of patients in the impoverished villages of Chisinau, Moldova with comprehensive eye exams, including pathology detection and treatment as well as vision correction devices.

When she is not busy working at the clinic, you can find her traveling the world, doing yoga, baking, working out or enjoying her time with her close friends and family.

Dr. Devathasan has a special interest in myopia control and ocular disease. She is a strong believer in patient-centered care and believes that counseling is the most important part of the eye exam, where the patient understands and gets to be involved in the treatment and management of their eye health.

Dr Gurjot Chahal

Oshawa and Richmond Hill location

Dr. Gurjot Chahal was born and raised in Markham. She received her Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Disease and Biology at the University of Toronto. She went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. During her externship year, she worked with renowned Optometrists in Boston MA, Newington CT and Beverly Hills CA. She enjoys primary eye care with an interest in dry eyes and ocular disease management.

In her spare time, Dr. Chahal enjoys traveling, watching Netflix, and keeping up with the latest research and treatment in eye care.

Dr. Chahal is board certified in both Canada and the USA. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.

Dr. Karen Louie

Markham location

Dr. Karen Louie completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences and later graduated with Dean’s Honour distinction from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2010. During her clinical studies, she interned at the Eye Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City, where she was trained extensively in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases including glaucoma, retinal pathologies, and corneal disease. She was also involved in diabetic retinopathy screenings for the elderly at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr. Louie greatly enjoys getting to know her patients, new and old, and is committed to providing thorough eye care, while addressing their questions in a relaxed environment. She currently works at the Markham location and looks forward to providing comprehensive eye care to you and your family.

Dr. Louie is currently a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.

Dr. Kopikaa Easwaran

Markham location

Dr. Kopikaa Easwaran completed her Bachelor of Medical Science at Western University. She then went on to the University of Waterloo where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree. Throughout her clinical training, she has gained extensive experience in pediatrics, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Easwaran values primary eye care and works alongside ophthalmologists and primary care physicians to serve the community.

Dr. Easwaran is passionate about eye care services in her local community and internationally. She has participated in mission trips to rural towns in Jamaica to provide eye examinations and post-operative cataract care.

Dr. Easwaran is currently an active member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and trying new recipes!

Dr. Manpeet Judgey

Richmond Hill and Markham location

Dr. Manpeet Judgey started her optometric career in Buffalo, New York where she developed an interest in serving the primary care needs of the local community and is passionate to bring her knowledge and expertise back to the city she grew up in at Markham.

She completed her undergraduate degree with honours at the University of Toronto St. George, and then pursued her Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry.

Dr. Judgey has had the opportunity to receive extensive clinical training throughout the United States including the Veterans Affair Hospitals in Buffalo, NY and Providence, RI. She has gained comprehensive knowledge in the treatment and management of many ocular conditions including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and other retinal disorders.

Dr. Judgey is committed to her patients receiving the most up to date optometric care with a thorough understanding of their ocular health.

Dr. Judgey can perform eye exams in both English and Punjabi. She is board certified in both Canada and the USA and is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario. During her free time, Dr. Judgey enjoys doing pilates, trying new restaurants and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Samantha Lok-Tung Chan

Markham location

Dr. Chan received her Honours Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree with a minor in Economics from the University of Waterloo where she graduated on the Dean’s Honour list. She then continued on at the University of Waterloo completing her Doctor of Optometry degree, also on the Dean’s Honour list. Dr. Chan completed her ocular disease externship in Scarborough, Ontario where she worked alongside of a retinal ophthalmologist Dr. Jordan Cheskes in diagnosing and managing retinal diseases including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, and age related macular degeneration. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, playing tennis and hiking. As an active member of The College of Optometrists of Ontario and Ontario Association of Optometrists, Dr. Chan is happy to serve the local community. She is able to provide service in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Dr. Liana Liu

Richmond Hill location

Dr. Liana (Anjingyao) Liu Doctor of Optometry Dr. Liu completed a Bachelor of Science in Physiology at McGill University. She then continued her studies at the University of Waterloo, where she completed her Doctor of Optometry degree with Dean’s Honours. She is licensed to diagnose ocular diseases and prescribe therapeutics. Dr. Liu has completed her clinical externships in Sarnia, Ontario and Grande Prairie, Alberta. During her training, she developed high proficiency in managing ocular conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and co-managing refractive and cataract surgeries. She served as an executive member with the Contact lens Interest Club and Low Vision Interest Group. She is a member in good standing of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrist. Dr. Liu is natively fluent in English and Mandarin and is accepting patients of all ages.

Dr. Wing Chung Theodore Chow

Richmond Hill location

Dr. Chow graduated from the University of Waterloo with honours from the Doctor of Optometry program and the Bachelor of Science program. He has completed ocular disease externships at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and alongside ophthalmologists in Pinellas Park, Florida. After receiving his professional license, he has continued to provide eye care to the rural populations in Thunder Bay, Georgina, and Huntsville, Ontario. Returning to his hometown of Toronto, Dr. Chow hopes to continue to provide high-level care to his patients in the Greater Toronto Area. In his spare time, Dr. Chow enjoys trying new food, going to the gym, and playing board games. He is fluent in English and Cantonese and welcomes patients of all ages.

Dr. Selah Gunasekaran

Richmond Hill location

Dr. Selah Gunasekaran was born in Sri Lanka and moved to Canada with her family when she was 2 years old! She is very passionate about eyecare and giving back to the community. She received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto where she specialized in neuroscience. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo, where she graduated with high distinction. Dr. Selah enjoys providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages, she is confident managing ocular disease and has special interests in binocular vision and myopia control management. Dr. Selah strives to provide personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs, ensuring optimal eye health and visual comfort for all her patients. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and has volunteered her time providing vision screening for children. Dr. Selah will continue to volunteer her time and services to both the community and the world through mission trips. In her spare time, you can find her on the field playing soccer. She grew up playing soccer competitively and even played for her University at Varsity level. She now volunteers her time coaching. She also enjoys reading, watching shows and spending quality time with friends and family. Fun fact she is a triplet and has a Black Belt in Karate!
