Dr. Grewal completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in Human Biology, while also working and doing research in Neurosurgery and Trauma at St. Michael’s Hospital. She then moved on to the prestigious Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. During her externship year, Dr. Grewal worked closely with renowned optometrists and ophthalmologists seeing veterans, children, and adults of all ages in Providence RI, Atlanta GA, Chicago IL, and Toronto ON. Upon returning to Toronto in 2009, Dr. Grewal continued to work with ophthalmologists and as an associate with optometrists throughout the GTA. Dr. Grewal joined the family of Eye Health Clinics in 2013.
With a passion for eye care, Dr. Grewal’s favourite part of her job is interacting with her patients, especially educating them about their eyes. She is very involved in the eye care community, sitting on the Board of Directors for the Vision Institute of Canada, the Inquiries, Complaints and Review Committee for the College of Optometrists of Ontario that governs optometrists for the province, and as a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and Canadian Association of Optometrists. She has also travelled to under-served areas as a volunteer optometrist to provide eye care.
In her personal time, you’ll find Dr. Grewal cheering on all of Toronto’s sports teams! She enjoys playing sports, travelling the world, and loves hearing about your travels too!
Dr. Vivian Zhang is a member of our optometric team who offers full scope primary eye care. She is dedicated to providing the highest quality of vision care in a warm, caring and relaxing environment. Dr. Zhang completed three years of her Bachelor of Science degree at University of Waterloo before entering the dual degree of Doctor of Optometry (OD) and Master of vision science program at New England College of Optometry (Boston, Massachusetts). Dr. Zhang has received extensive training in the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular diseases while attending her internships at University of Maryland, Boston Lowell VA Hospital and oversea at WenZhou Medical University/hospital of China. Dr. Zhang has completed her American National Board of Examiners in Optometry and Canadian Standards Assessment in Optometry. Dr. Zhang enjoys working with patients of all ages. She is attentive to her patient’s concerns and strives to partner with them to make eye care an integral part of their health. She is delighted to be a part of the Eye Health team.
Dr. Nowtash completed her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees at the University of Waterloo. As part of her studies, she completed an internship at Omni Eyecare Centres in Atlanta, Georgia, focusing on ocular disease. She has been practicing in the GTA for the past decade in practices alongside other optometrist and ophthalmologist colleagues.
In the past, Dr. Nowtash has participated in two volunteering international eye care missions, providing eye examinations and distributing donated glasses to the local population in need. The first mission was in Tacna, Peru in February 2006 with Eye Care International and the second one in November 2009 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as part of the Third World Eye Care Society of Canada.
In her spare time, as an arts enthusiastic, she enjoys drawing and painting, singing as part of a choir and learning to play the piano. She is also an avid reader and loves to cook and travel.
With a life-long passion for eyes, Dr. Zain Hassan started his education with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from York University, which he graduated with in 2011 First Class with distinction. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2015, graduating on the Dean’s Honor List.
Dr. Hassan has trained at many different externship locations, including doing his ocular disease and therapeutics rotation at the John Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, where he worked alongside several ophthalmologists and learned to diagnose, manage, and treat many different ocular conditions including dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and much more. He also trained at a refractive surgery clinic in the GTA performing pre and post LASIK co-management. He has also worked with many Optometrists in Oshawa, Markham, and Downtown Toronto to develop his skills in contact lenses, binocular vision, and pediatrics.
Dr. Hassan strives to keep up on the latest research and up to date treatment models to serve his patients the best way he can. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer and basketball, and enjoys spending time with family and friends. He has been working at the Oshawa Eye Health clinic since November, 2015, where he is currently welcoming new and returning patients of all ages. Dr. Hassan believes that vision is not just 20/20 and is dedicated to exceeding all your eye care needs!”
